A FEW KEY POINTERS TO KNOW BEFOREHAND:

  • Avoid tap water or water from any public source in Peru. Always keep packaged water handy
  • Definitely try the Coca Tea that is a must have in Peru and helps one in acclimatizing with the altitude
  • Stock up on Anti-malarial and altitude medicationwhen you’re in Peru
  • Always keep small change on you at all the times (all countries)
  • Avoid eating at shady places in Bolivia and go for the safer options with high customer turnovers to avoid stomach upsets
  • People aren’t used to punctuality hence be prepared for a few minor delays here and there in Bolivia
  • A lot of the major attractions are located at high altitudes hence it gets cold in Bolivia. Packing accordingly will make the trip convenient.
  • Except for the main tourist spots, most of Chile is untouched and only has a few locals and tourists in other areas
  • Chile is relatively expensive as compared to the rest of South America, including high food and bus costs.
  • Chile is a wine lover’s paradise
