The Royal palace, Akerhus Fortress & castle and Oslo Town hall
You will be greeted by our representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel in your private cab. you will start by visiting The Royal Palace, which is the official residence of the Norwegian Royal Family. From here walk the buzzing street of Karl Johans gate, the main thoroughfare in central Oslo with cafes and shopping opportunities. From here one can reach the Akerhus fortress, which is the medieval fortress built to guard the city and the castle inside it as a residence for the Norwegian kings. Not far from here, the Oslo City Hall, inaugurated in 1950, is an impressive building where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded every year, and is decorated with great Norwegian art from the early 1900s.
Munch museum, National gallery, Historical museum and Opera house
Today you shall visit the Munch museum that houses the work of renowned nowegian expressionist artist, Edvard Munch, most known for his painting 'The Scream'. From here you can go to the National Gallery that houses important works of Norwegian and European art upto the mid 1900s. From here, walk to the Nowegian National Opera house - a beautiful building clad in white marble that appears to rise from the water. In case a show is happening one can catch it here. From here walk along the Akerselva river and reach the hip neighbourhood of Grunerlokka. Here you can visit the Mathalen food hall - which is an indoor food market with more than 30 speciality shops, cafes and eateries.
Vigeland sculpture park, Museums plateau city and modern art museum
Today you will visit the Vigeland scupture park - one of Oslo's most visited attractions - is the world's largest sculpture park made by a single artist. Completed between 1939 and 1949, the park houses over 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland in bronze, granite and wrought iron. One can also visit the Vigeland Museum located within the park. From here head to the Bygdoy peninsula that houses The Norwegian folkmuseum which is the world's largest open air museum with more than 100 traditional houses, farms and apartment blocks transferred here from all parts of Norway, Nearby, the Viking ship museum which is home to the world's best preserved Viking ships and is one of Oslo's top attractions
Day trip to Fredrikstad
Today we will take a trip to the nearby town of Fredrikstad - which is known for one of the best preserved medieval fortresses in Scandinavia consisting of buildings from the 18th century and and a fortification with walls and moats from the 17th century. Fredrikstad's historic town not only has old buildings but in addition to these there are shops with designer goods, arts and crafts, furniture food and curiosities. Fredrikstad City Museum with its historic city exhibition is also located here.
Airport Transfer
Today comes the end of the trip and you’ll be transferred to the airport from your hotel by a private cab.
