It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs. This island city with crisscrossing canals is best explored on foot. Visiting the following attractions of Venice at your own pace will definitely orient you to the city very well:

Take a half day trip to Pisa (an hour away from Florence) to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is a freestanding bell tower of the cathedral of the Italian city of Pisa, known worldwide for its nearly four-degree lean.
It took almost 200 years to build the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The tower began leaning even before construction was finished. The upper levels of the tower were built at an angle to offset the lean. If you look closely at photographs, you can see that the tower has a slight curve to it.
The tower and cathedral were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
You will also visit the Cathedral / Duomo.
