City Tour of Ulaanbaatar (Guided Tour)
Today after breakfast visit the famous sites like Gandan Monastery, the seat of Buddhism in Mongolia, National History Museum for an excellent overview of Mongolia’s history and culture etc. in a full-day tour of Ulaanbaatar. The Tibetan-style Gandan Monastery, one of the few buildings in Ulan Bator to predate WWII and one of the few monasteries to survive the Soviet purge.
Transfer to Gobi (Yol Valley) (Guided Tour)
Today transfer to the Gobi which is a fascinating and diverse region, and includes sites of some of the most important paleontological discoveries of the 20th century. Drive to the Yol Valley National Park (40 minutes) located in the northern part of the Gobi in the foothills of the Altai Mountains. Next, drive desert camp, located at Bulagtai Mountain on the edge of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure or explore the surroundings on your own.
Khongud Dunes (Guided Tour)
Today we will go on a full-day tour to explore the Khongud.“Els” is the Mongolian word for dunes and “Khongoryn” describes the exquisite pale tawny colour of one of the world’s most beautiful dunes fields, yet another remarkable landscape of the world’s northernmost desert. Khongoryn Els extends for 60 miles alongside the Gobi Altai. Mountain range and reach 600 feet in height. The morning light on thousands is enchanting, and a stream–often crowded with Pallas’s Sandgrouse and other birds – flows in a green swath before them. Enjoy your evening at the dunes as the sunsets. Spend your overnight in a desert camp.
Flaming Cliffs (Guided Tour)
Today we will go on a full-day tour exploring the dunes known as the “Singing Sands” for the remarkable low-pitched groan that is emitted when the surface is disturbed by the wind. Late in the afternoon, continue driving to the legendary Flaming Cliffs, named for the orange glow of the rock at sunset.
Transfer to Ulaanbaatar, Gorkhi Terelj National Park and Chinggis Statue (Guided Tour )
Transfer to Ulaanbaatar and drive to Chinggis statue. The statue of Chinggis Khaan on the horseback 30 miles out of Ulaanbaatar is considered as the biggest of its kind in the world. Located at a historic site, the Tsonjin Boldog, where Chinggis Khaan found a horsewhip, which was believed to be the sign of Chinggis Khaan uniting the numerous nations of the world and followed by a drive to Gorkhi Terelj National park (40 minutes). Comprised of the southern Khentii mountain range, this mountain, forest, steppe region provides habitat for a variety of bird and plant life. The area also has endangered musk deer and moose, brown bear, roe, elk, wolf, fox, and badger. Explore the surrounding area on foot or horseback.
